اليورانيوم المنضب

• Helen Mary Caldicott (born 7 August 1938) is an Australian physician, author, and anti-nuclear advocate who has founded several associations dedicated to opposing the use of nuclear power, depleted uranium munitions, nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons proliferation, and military action in general.
  هيلين ماري كالديكوت (ولدت في 7 أغسطس عام 1938 ) هي طبيبة أسترالية وكاتبة مناهضة للأسلحة النووية، وهي التي أسست عددًا من الجمعيات المكرِّسة لمعارضة استخدام الطاقة النووية، وذخائر اليورانيوم المنضب، والأسلحة النووية، وانتشار الأسلحة النووية، والحروب والعمليات العسكرية بشكلٍ عام.
• Thermonuclear weapons may or may not use a boosted primary stage, use different types of fusion fuel, and may surround the fusion fuel with beryllium (or another neutron reflecting material) instead of depleted uranium to prevent early premature fission from occurring before the secondary is optimally compressed.
  إن الأسلحة النووية الحرارية قد تستعين أو لا تستعين بمرحلة أولية معززة، وتستخدم أنواع مختلفة من الوقود الاندماجي النووي، وقد تطوق الوقود الاندماجي النووي بـالبيريليوم (أو مادة عاكسة للنيوترونات أخرى) بدلاً من اليورانيوم المنضب لمنع حدوث المزيد من الانشطار.
• Depleted uranium weapons have been cited in some studies as contributing factors in Gulf War syndrome and increases in birth defects amongst residents within contaminated areas – the issue of DU use has also been raised by the Lebanese Government in the past, although the effect is widely debated, and the World Health Organization has concluded that "under most circumstances, use of DU will make a negligible contribution to the overall natural background levels of uranium."
  أشارت بعض الدراسات إلى أن أسلحة اليورانيوم المستنفد هي عوامل مسهمة في مرض حرب الخليج وزيادات في العيوب الخلقية بين السكان داخل المناطق الملوثة كما أن مسألة استخدام اليورانيوم المنضب قد أثارتها الحكومة اللبنانية في الماضي على الرغم من أن التأثير على نطاق واسع وخلصت منظمة الصحة العالمية إلى أنه "في ظل معظم الظروف فإن استخدام اليورانيوم المنضب سيسهم إسهاما ضئيلا في مستويات الخلفية الطبيعية لليورانيوم".
